Huskies and Heroes
Taysia Blue Rescue is launching a new outreach program aimed at helping homeless dogs and U. S. Military veterans. The new program will be named Huskies and Heroes and will focus on bringing together challenging shelter dogs struggling with socialization and coping and military veterans struggling with PTSD and other challenges associated with transitioning back to civilian life. The intent is to have the veterans work with the dogs to improve their adopt-ability while helping our veterans improve their own anxiety and depression issues.
According to Taysia Blue Rescue’s founder Jackie Roach, “We have noticed an increase in challenging dogs coming in to shelters. These dogs and shelters need our help and we're not always able to. The dogs need more time, they need intensive training and they need a path & plan to adoption.”
She went on to say that the goal of the program will be to provide more help for these troubled dogs, while at the same time partnering with veterans in our community who might also need some help finding their own calm confidence.
